Auditions

GÄMEZ are looking for around five improvisers to join our group of 14 who would love to be part of GÄMEZ. 

We’re looking for players who:

• Have a good level of improv experience - ideally a year or more (but we’re open to anyone who feels comfortable performing on stage)

• Fit in with our style of fast and fun improv with big characters

• Support our commitment to diversity and inclusion. We welcome applications from people from under-represented backgrounds

• Are supportive of others and have a positive mindset - making sure all our teammates look and feel good

• Are over 18

Time commitment

Our cast meet fortnightly for three hours on Saturday afternoons (typically between 3pm to 6pm) to rehearse - usually at Theatre Deli in Aldgate. 

Having a large group means we can say yes to performance opportunities; typically a monthly show at Hoopla Impro, festivals (eg. Brighton & Camden) and invitations to perform on other improv and  comedy events.

We've performed at international festivals, and occasionally put on our own nights too.

Financial commitment

There are costs associated with rehearsals (room bookings, coaching) that are spread across the group and subsidised for anyone not in a position to contribute to funding these. 

Money earned from performances is reinvested back into the group.

Costs are discussed as a group, and can vary but average around £20-30 every 3-6 months. 

Festivals are optional but incur separate costs (like travel, food and accommodation).

Social activities

We are a close-knit group that spends a lot of time together outside of improv. We're pals!

This can be from hanging out after rehearsals, meeting to socialise and even the occasional weekend or trip away.

1. Fill out the application form

Applications open on Friday 8 August will close at midnight Friday, 5 September 2025.  You'll need to complete the GÄMEZ auditions application form, (also at the end of the page).

We will contact you via e-mail by Friday, 12 September to say if you are invited to an audition workshop.

2. Attend an audition workshop

Our audition workshops will run like our regular rehearsals, with warm ups and games. It will be played with other auditionees and current members of GÄMEZ.

They will take place on: 

• Monday, 15 September 2025 (7-9pm)

• Thursday, 18 September 2025 (7-9pm)

• Friday, 19 September 2025 (7-9pm)

• Saturday, 20 September 2025 (1.30-3.30pm)

If you are offered an audition place, but are no longer able to make an audition time, we may not be able to accommodate you.

3. After the workshops

After our audition workshops, we will contact you via e-mail by Friday, 26 September to say if you have been successful at our audition workshops. We will provide feedback on all auditions if requested.

We’ll then choose around five people to join GÄMEZ for a trial period to see if we’re a good fit for each other. 

In the trial period, you will need to attend at least three rehearsals between before the end of December 2025 (rehearsals are every two weeks on Saturdays afternoons).

If the trial period goes well, we will invite you to become a permanent member of GÄMEZ.
